About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility equipment in the institution's buildings. The position involves maintaining and operating various equipment, performing water testing and analysis, and conducting minor plumbing and electrical maintenance. The operator will also perform pipe fitting, painting, housekeeping, and other miscellaneous tasks, logging all services provided. This role may require filling in for absent shift personnel and training for higher-level positions.

Requirements

• Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operations, repair, and maintenance (HVAC, electrical, steam).
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
• Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
• Ability to comply with institutional and job specific safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid TX driver's license is required - must have a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates air compressors, fans, pumps, hot water converters, pressure reducing stations, air delivery systems, thermostats, and water conditioning equipment in the institute facilities.
• Maintains heating and air conditioning equipment to include cleaning coils, replacing air filters, troubleshooting control circuits and repairing pumps.
• Performs water testing, analysis, and documentation on utility systems.
• Performs minor plumbing and electrical maintenance on equipment and building and plant utility systems.
• Performs pipe fitting, painting, housekeeping, and other miscellaneous tasks and logs service provided.
• May be required to fill in for absent shift personnel.
• Trains for higher level positions.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
