About The Position

The Building Test Coordinator (BTC) serves as the liaison between the school and the Curriculum and Instruction Department, with varying roles dependent upon the testing happening. The district recognizes that the time, care, and accountability needed to ensure smooth, consistent, and secure testing requires a devoted individual at each site. It is the responsibility of the BTC to attend all scheduled trainings regarding testing, whether they are offered by the Assessment Department, Student Services, Curriculum & Instruction, or an outside entity such as the State of Alaska or WIDA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between school and Curriculum and Instruction Department.
  • Attend all scheduled trainings regarding testing.
  • Work with the Site Tech to verify that all student computers have access to the MAP testing browser and report any issues.
  • Create all test sessions for students in your building, according to the teacher who will be testing them, at least one day prior to testing.
  • Contact Ian Acuna if students are missing from the roster or are rostered to the wrong class.
  • Verify the list of student accommodations with the Counselor, SPED teachers, and classroom teacher for accuracy and compliance for MAP testing.
  • Arrange training for test proctors in test administration, or verify that they have completed online modules provided by NWEA.
  • Verify that each test proctor can log in to the NWEA testing site and contact Ian Acuna if there are issues.
  • Work with teachers and building administrators to ensure that all students are given the appropriate test and are tested in the given window, and send schedules to Caitlin.
  • Contact the Curriculum Department for scheduling assistance.
  • Ensure all teachers giving the AIMS benchmarking probes have access to the online system.
  • Contact Ian Acuna if teachers or students are missing for AIMSweb.
  • Verify that all test administrators have signed level 4 Test Security Agreements (TSAs) for WIDA ACCESS.
  • Verify that all test proctors have passed the WIDA online modules pertaining to the assessments they will administer and work with Kathleen Fisher to ensure certificates are on file.
  • Report any WIDA ACCESS issues to Kathleen and Caitlin.
  • Work with the Curriculum Department to determine students needing the WIDA ACCESS assessment and create a schedule to ensure all ELL students are tested.
  • Verify the list of student accommodations with Student Services, the Counselor, SPED teachers, and the test proctor for accuracy and compliance for WIDA ACCESS.
  • Ensure that Student Services has the WIDA Accommodations form.
  • Assist in the ordering of materials for your building for WIDA ACCESS by verifying the list of students to be tested.
  • Work with Kathleen to receive all WIDA ACCESS materials, keep them in a secured location, and sign them in and out to appropriate staff.
  • Work with your building principal to ensure the Government Representative has all the information they need for NAEP.
  • Ensure all required staff completes the necessary paperwork from the federal government for NAEP.
  • Verify that all test administrators have signed level 4 TSAs for PEAKS.
  • Verify that all student computers have the INSIGHT client installed and work with the Site Tech to perform the configuration check, reporting any issues to InfoTech for PEAKS.
  • Roster all students into test sessions for PEAKS, reporting difficulties to Caitlin immediately.
  • Print and organize test tickets for PEAKS by grade or teacher/classroom, advising teachers to keep track of who does NOT test and keep their test tickets separate.
  • Ensure graph paper and blank scratch paper are available for each classroom that will be testing for PEAKS.
  • Cover up or remove materials on the walls where students will test for PEAKS.
  • Notify Caitlin by December 15 if additional headphones are anticipated for PEAKS testing.
  • Ensure all students are given the option to use headphones while they test for PEAKS.
  • Provide each test administrator with a paper copy of the Test Administrator Directions (TAD) and Tech Support Guide for PEAKS.
  • Verify the list of student accommodations with Student Services, the Counselor, SPED teachers, and the test proctor for accuracy and compliance for PEAKS.
  • Ensure that Student Services has the appropriate forms signed by the test administrator for PEAKS accommodations.
  • Determine seating arrangements for PEAKS testing, including sufficient room, space between seats, and established seating charts.
  • Ensure homeschool students are rostered BEFORE PEAKS testing begins and that Assessment is aware of them/has contacted their home school.
  • Create a plan for disruptive students for PEAKS testing, including who they are, if they should test in a separate location, and who will test them.
  • Ensure teachers store cell phones and laptops out of sight during PEAKS testing, with cell phones off or silent.
  • Post signs for PEAKS testing: 'No electronics' and 'Testing, do not disturb'.
  • Report any security or ethics breach during PEAKS testing to Caitlin immediately and document in writing.
  • Document special circumstances (student/parent refusal, medical waiver, absent student, or invalidation) on the Irregularity Report for PEAKS.
  • Create a plan with staff to ensure students know what they can do after they finish testing for PEAKS.
  • Collect all Irregularity Reports after PEAKS testing, scan/email them to Caitlin.
  • Document all parent refusals and send them to Caitlin after PEAKS testing.
  • Collect all test tickets after PEAKS testing; shred used tickets after a student has finished both parts of a test, and keep tickets for students who have not yet tested.
  • Shred all used scratch paper after PEAKS testing.
