This role provides critical services and support to various patient care areas, including Emergency Department, Linen & Central Services, Pediatric & Neonatal & other Intensive Care Units, Inpatient care areas requiring overnight stays for patients, Psychiatric & Complex Intervention Units, Transplant Units, Labor & Delivery, Cath Labs, and a Heliport. Responsibilities extend to supporting the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and areas like a Chapel and Convent. The position requires adherence to The Joint Commission's standards for Preventive Maintenance (PM) completion, which may involve activities outside the standard job classification. Technicians will operate, maintain, repair, and diagnose complex mechanical systems and portable equipment, including air handling equipment, fire alarm systems, building automation systems, fluid pumping for cooling and heating, security card access, refrigeration, freezer alarm systems, boilers, and other building electronic systems. Preventative maintenance duties include belt replacement, lubrication, filter changing, and pressure washing inside air handling equipment. The role involves responding to and resolving emergency and repair calls, communicating with maintenance shops via work order systems, and coordinating with on-call maintenance staff. Planning and scheduling modifications and repairs with minimal disruption and within fiscal constraints is also a responsibility. Technicians must be observant of equipment status, communicate concerns to appropriate personnel, and possess excellent verbal, written, and human relations skills for interacting with staff, visitors, and patients.
