About The Position

Join the Loudoun County Department of General Services (DGS) as a Building Systems Engineer and be part of a team that keeps our county’s facilities running efficiently. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects, coordinate problem-solving efforts, and manage emergency or ad hoc projects. They will also assist with determining preventive maintenance for buildings and building systems, document scheduling and completion of work activities, and assist with selecting contractors. Additionally, the role involves developing recurring maintenance programs and schedules, submitting work orders for County maintenance response, engaging vendors for commercial maintenance services, analyzing results of building infrastructure and systems condition surveys, and developing and prioritizing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems repair programs. The position also requires developing schedules to accomplish operations programs and contractor schedules, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in MEP (Mechanical Trades, Electrical Trades, Plumbing Trades) or related field and four (4) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Hold or obtain a state-issued Master's License (Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing) within 12 months of hire.
  • Hold or obtain a CFC License (universal refrigerant recovery) within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Energy Manager and/or Facilities Management Professional certifications.
