About The Position

This is a full-time, school-based position for a Building Substitute Teacher, primarily focused on early and elementary education. The role is based in the Seattle-Tacoma area and requires a commitment to fostering a collaborative school community and delivering rigorous, engaging content. The ideal candidate will be aligned with Impact Public Schools' values, believing that every child can thrive and meet ambitious goals. The position involves creating a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, implementing effective behavior management, building strong student-teacher relationships, and ensuring a safe and joyful learning environment. Instructional duties include executing the Impact instructional model, developing lesson plans, anticipating student needs, and differentiating instruction. The role also emphasizes modeling core values, fostering belonging, and disrupting inequity. Collaboration with colleagues, mentoring teaching fellows, and engaging in professional development are key aspects. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in education/related field or be actively working towards completing a bachelor's degree (required within 2-years of employment)
  • Must have or be eligible for certification by OSPI with an endorsement in Elementary Education (within 1-month of employment required)
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification
  • Must be able to obtain then provide an academic transcript if hired
  • Must pass a fingerprint and background check
  • Complete SafeSchools trainings

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience delivering rigorous and engaging instruction in a K-12 setting
  • Substitute Teaching certification

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, implement effective behavior management strategies, build strong student-teacher relationships, and create a safe and joyful environment for optimal learning.
  • Consistently execute core best practices aligned with the Impact instructional model, develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans, anticipate student responses and potential challenges, and differentiate instruction as needed to ensure student success.
  • Exemplify and consistently model Impact core values and adhere to campus norms that align with the organization's values, fostering a sense of belonging for all students, and committed to disrupting inequity in the classroom and school environment each day.
  • Lead professional development initiatives, mentor and support teaching fellows, collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and other educators to contribute to a cohesive and supportive learning environment, and actively engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and effectiveness.
