About The Position

Performs regularly scheduled cleaning duties in areas such as bathrooms, halls, stairways, lobbies, dining rooms, apartments, student rooms, study lounges, pressing rooms, offices, and inside entrance ways. This position has a Female Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) due to the nature of the duties associated with cleaning specific community bathrooms assigned for use by female identified individuals. All positions in RHS are designated as critical status and are expected to report to work during university closures or emergencies. Remote work agreements may require on-site work during emergencies. Duties include assisting in training new employees and watering plants in public areas. Changes light bulbs in lamps.

Requirements

Casual knowledge of cleaning methods, techniques, and equipment.
Ability to relate and communicate with college students.
Lifting of up to 25 pounds is required.

Responsibilities

Performs regularly scheduled cleaning duties in various areas including bathrooms, halls, stairways, lobbies, dining rooms, apartments, student rooms, study lounges, pressing rooms, offices, and inside entrance ways.
Dust mops, operates vacuums, or sweeps floor areas.
Wet mops lavatories, bathrooms, and shower areas.
Washes window glass, casings, tracks, ledges, and venetian blinds.
Makes beds and tidies bedrooms.
Handles, counts, and mends linens.
Spot washes walls to remove marks and fingerprints.
Shampoos and cleans upholstery on chairs and sofas.
Re-supplies toilet tissue, towels, and similar items in restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
Empties and cleans wastepaper baskets and cigarette ash receptacles.
Dusts furniture, office equipment, and surfaces subject to dust accumulation.
Cleans chalkboards and erasers.
Turns in lost and found articles to Supervisor.
Cleans and clears trash from building entrances, sweeps or shovels snow from building entrances, and empties ash urns at building entrances.
Reports damage, malfunction, or irregularities of the building or equipment to Supervisor.
Cleans and replaces cleaning equipment and supplies at end of work period.
Assists in the training of new Building Service Workers and other support employees.
Waters plants in public areas.
Changes light bulbs in table, desk, and floor lamps in lounge.
