Building Services Technician I
About The Position
This position provides a range of custodial services for Campus Recreation in the daily cleaning of approximately 200,000 square feet of activity space in the Student Recreation Center. This includes regular cleaning and disinfecting of 16 restrooms, three locker/changing rooms with 14 showers, 6 gym courts, 6 fitness studios, over 30,000 square feet of weight training and cardio space, 5 meeting rooms, and over 20 offices. Additionally, it covers 2 outdoor restrooms that service the Intramural Fields. The Student Recreation Center serves over 22,000 weekly visitors, including students, employees, affiliates, and prospective students and families on tours.
Requirements
- Six months of custodial experience appropriate to the job assignment

- Experience in both residential and commercial environments
- Experience with entering personal spaces with an awareness and good work practices for privacy and discretion of patrons and guests
- Experience working on a team to complete tasks
- Excellent customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and sanitizing of Student Recreation Center and adjacent facilities
- Removal of trash and recycled materials in facility
- Stripping and deep scrubbing floors with chemicals and buffers
- Work with custodial team on yearly projects (e.g., refinishing of hard wood surface floors)
