About The Position

This position provides leadership, direction and support to a team of skilled facilities technicians in a dynamic, high volume, multi-shift fulfillment center. Supervisors will have an active role in all aspects of an employee’s time with FBB, including but not limited to onboarding, training, development, discipline, and performance review. Supervisors will also grow their careers by learning the fundamentals of supervision and leadership with ongoing professional development. Supervisors will be expected to effectively manage their time to plan and organize duties and tasks ensuring successful completion. Supervisors will support the Operations Manager and ensure timely, accurate product receipt, order fulfillment, and optimization of resources and processes. Supervisors are expected to manage and lead people to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, continual process improvement and drive employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where employees are engaged, empowered, and committed to success.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in high-volume operations, either in distribution or manufacturing.
  • Associate degree or equivalent in a technical field, or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Skilled trades license is a plus.
  • Proven leadership skills in supervising a dynamic work team.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word required; Access desired).
  • Ability to use CAD is a plus.
  • Union experiences preferred.
  • Working knowledge and/or previous experience in most of the following areas: HVAC, Compressors, Energy management systems, Electrical knowledge or experience, Tilt tray systems, PLC’s - Allen-Bradley desired, Fabrication, e.g., sheet metal, Forklift repair and maintenance, Security systems, Printers/labelers/scanners/scales, Packaging machines, Fire system testing and maintenance, Conveyor/Extendo maintenance, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Plumbing, Carpentry, drywall, interior painting, Welding, Packaging machine maintenance, Crane maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that technicians are properly trained on all required safety procedures associated with their responsibilities. The supervisor is accountable for the safety practices of their technicians.
  • Receives requests from Operations management for maintenance support. Prioritize, schedule, and assign work to technicians, including required preventive maintenance.
  • Is responsible for providing timely and courteous service to the Operations teams, including services performed by technicians.
  • Ensures that all technicians possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform their assigned job responsibilities
  • Spends time each day overseeing and reviewing the activities of technicians.
  • Works with Building Services team to maintain sufficient inventories of tools, parts, and supplies toto maintain the equipment and facility properly.
  • Processes invoices for timely payment.
  • Ensures that daily documentation, such as, but not limited to work logs, equipment check sheets, preventive maintenance documentation, etc., is completed.
  • Communicates with Operations management to keep them informed on all equipment repairs and maintenance affecting their operation.
  • Responsible for communicating problems, concerns, and inoperable equipment information to the next shift at shift turnover, keeping upper management involved as necessary.
  • Keeps all storage, mechanical, and shop work areas neat, well-stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Provide coaching to technicians regarding performance expectations and apply discipline if necessary to alter behavior or improve service levels and job performance.
  • Provides cross-training opportunities to technicians to broaden their site-specific knowledge of equipment. Conducts periodic assessments of technician skills and keeps records of all skills acquired by technicians.
  • Must be flexible to work all shifts as needed for coverage demands (peer vacation or illness), including periodic daily overtime and weekend coverage in support of operational requirements.
