About The Position

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Operations, the Operations Technician develops and implements operational training programs and procedures for district-wide facilities and supports operations based on current industry standards. This role assesses existing operational methods and delivers customized training individually or in groups for building service staff. The technician also oversees school-based building service supply inventory, coordinates additional support in school buildings, assists in the development and planning of workload distribution in schools, and provides consistent feedback on building service processes by observing and participating in school operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of operational training, facilities support, custodial operations, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of current standards and best practices for operational and facility support services.
  • Knowledge of the proper methods of storing equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Knowledge of processes for maintaining facilities.
  • Ability to operate a computer and master assigned software.
  • Record-keeping and report preparation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and professionalism.
  • Ability to develop and maintain training materials.
  • Ability to review and assess work for quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Ability to identify and report safety hazards.
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational training programs that address District needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish, document, and communicate standards, guidelines, and procedures in proper operational methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct field audits to ensure consistency and compliance with operational procedures and standards.
  • Document findings and recommend corrective action where non-compliance is identified.
  • Assess existing operational practices for adequacy and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and quality of services.
  • Train building service staff on operational processes and procedures, industry best practices, and district safety requirements.
  • Evaluate operational methods and safety techniques demonstrated by staff and recommend ongoing training as needed.
  • Develop and maintain reference guides for proper storage, use, operation, and maintenance of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, standards, and regulations and ensure training programs reflect current requirements.
  • Research, develop, and deliver specialized training programs related to sustainability, safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare reports as requested or required.
  • Perform general maintenance and operational duties as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
