Building Service Attendant (Housekeeping) - Environmental Services - Per Diem
About The Position
Performs a variety of cleaning techniques including dusting, mopping, scrubbing and the use of heavy equipment. Cleans and services Arnot Health areas, moves furniture, equipment and supplies in and around the hospital in an orderly and sanitary manner. This role involves tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, shampooing carpets, and damp dusting furniture. The attendant is also responsible for transporting and setting up furniture for meetings, operating floor machines and burnishers, and managing linen and microfiber carts. Additionally, the role includes collecting and delivering soiled linen, cleaning various surfaces including walls, ceilings, windows, and light fixtures, and handling garbage and medical waste according to proper procedures. Regular house cleaning, isolation cleaning, changing drapes and curtains, and cleaning the Morgue after an autopsy are also key responsibilities. The attendant must observe safety rules, report hazards, operate equipment safely, and maintain clean work areas. Attending mandatory educational programs and interacting with patients in a friendly and caring manner to ensure a positive experience are also expected.
Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand both verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities
- Cleans and services Arnot Health areas, moves furniture, equipment and supplies in and around the hospital in an orderly and sanitary manner, i.e.: sweeps, mopping, vacuums floors, shampoos carpets, and damp dusts furniture.
- Must be able to transport and set up furniture for meetings, run small extractors, floor machines and small burnishers.
- Loads linen and microfiber carts and bins to predetermined par levels and completes deliveries at scheduled times. Completes all functions associated with the linen processes.
- Collects soiled linen and soiled microfiber products from designated areas and delivers to the soiled holding area. Completes all functions associated with the soiled linen processes.
- Must be able to wash walls, ceiling tiles, vents, windows inside and out, and window screens, light fixtures, and other high dusting requiring a ladder. Must be able to take care of garbage and medical waste and follow proper procedure on packing needle containers.
- Completes regular housecleans in an assigned area, using proper procedures. Replenishes supplies as needed.
- Completes isolation cleaning using proper procedure.
- Changes drapes and cubical curtains as required and move beds as needed.
- Must be able to clean the Morgue after an autopsy has been performed and the major portion has been cleaned. (General Houseclean).
- Observes safety rules and reports safety and health hazards to supervisor.
- Operates all equipment in a correct, safe manner and cleans equipment after each use.
- Maintains neat and clean work and storage areas.
- Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
