About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Building Science Testing Technician to join their Building Science Solutions team in Denver, Colorado. This role offers a career in the building enclosure testing industry, focusing on consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects. The technician will perform field testing, observations, and inspection of construction materials such as waterproofing, air barriers, cladding, glazing, and roofing systems on various project types including commercial, residential, higher education, healthcare, and municipal projects. The position requires up to 15% overnight/out-of-town travel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results and possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance policies and procedures which relate to the control, storage, and disposition of test specimens.
  • General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools.
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel as business needs indicate - Up to 15% overnight/out of town.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent related experience, preferred.
  • Construction, glazing, roofing or similar general construction background, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
  • Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (i.e., air and water infiltration).
  • Provide assessment of data through reporting.
  • Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams.
  • Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
  • Make detailed observations and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
