About The Position

Slipstream is seeking a Building Science Specialist (BSS) to perform home energy assessments, quality control inspections, diagnostic testing, and training. The ideal candidate will manage multiple priorities while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Our ideal BSS has a track record of completing residential quality control site visits, ensuring energy efficiency measures and installations meet program specifications. They have the knowledge and ability to complete diagnostic testing and analyze results for heating system combustion analysis, carbon monoxide measurement, gas leak detection, zonal pressure identification, infrared scanning, and blower door air leakage measurement. As a key member of our Workforce Development Team, the BSS helps develop and deliver quality technical training and support materials for energy efficiency professionals. They are an effective communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into practical learning experiences, build strong relationships, and engage a variety of audiences. This position may be based anywhere in Wisconsin or in a state that shares a border with Wisconsin and requires regular travel throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states several times per month.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of three years work-related experience
  • Basic proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Building Performance Institute (BPI); Home Energy Professional (HEP) Energy Auditor; and Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification required; or the ability to become certified upon hire
  • Exhibit ability to perform diagnostic testing and analysis related to home energy assessments, quality control inspections, and training
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate residential building science best practices
  • Knowledge of the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program
  • Ability to travel throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states on a regular basis

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control residential field site visits
  • Deliver technical training
  • Assist or lead the development of technical training and support materials.
  • Complete diagnostic testing of buildings and equipment analyzing results and reporting findings
  • Provide information for review of data and monthly reports
