About The Position

A Paraprofessional increases the quality of instruction by carrying out instructional and non-instructional tasks under the supervision of a certified professional, such as a teacher, therapist, principal, or supervisor. Paraprofessionals do not design, direct, or evaluate the teaching and learning process. The At-Large role may involve providing one-to-one support to eligible young children in early childhood settings, covering a PEI classroom, or providing CCAT support. Assignments may vary according to program and student needs; the 189-day calendar is flexible and designed around the needs of the children served. School-based At-Large paraprofessionals may be assigned to any assignment within a specific building daily. District At-Large paraprofessionals may be assigned to another AIU-operated classroom in the building or to an alternative location for a day or extended assignment as needed. All paraprofessionals perform the duties in this description. The position is in Special Education and Support Services, follows a 189-day Monday–Friday schedule, and reports to the Building Principal or Program Supervisor. The stated salary is according to the AIUFT Bargaining Unit Agreement, with Step 1 listed at $26,434.00–$26,783.00. Benefits are provided according to that agreement.
