About The Position

Under the general supervision of an appropriate Manager, the Building Operator performs skilled HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and steam-system maintenance and operation, along with general housekeeping and maintenance for assigned buildings or systems. The role performs preventive maintenance on building systems and components and repairs, upgrades, schedules, and organizes upkeep of assigned buildings, grounds, facilities, rooms, storage areas, equipment, services, and vehicles. The Building Operator helps ensure the maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and organization of the building, its property, vehicles, and contents.

Requirements

• Requires 3–5 years of experience in one or a combination of HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and/or general maintenance.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University of Toledo’s driving policies.
• Knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices.
• Ability to use math; read and write common vocabulary; read blueprints; understand technical manuals and verbal instructions.
• Ability to walk, climb, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
