About The Position

Position is responsible for the general supervision and administrative oversight of Centennial Student Union (CSU) building operations in support of the educational programs of the University. This position assists with the logistical planning, coordination and execution of furniture set-up, equipment needs, and staffing for meetings and events in the CSU. Additionally, this position supervises part-time student staff to deliver exceptional customer service with an emphasis on student learning and employee growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) year of experience in operations, hospitality, event management, or personnel management in a college, recreation, student union, or hospitality setting, with part‑time managerial, assistantship, internship, or other pre‑professional experience accepted toward the requirement.
  • Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Participation in required weekend and evening events, and projects (position has a Tuesday-Saturday work schedule. During the summer and breaks, the schedule adjusts based on event needs and hours of operation).
  • Participation in industry related association meetings for the purpose of cultivating new knowledge and opportunities.
  • May be contacted for consultation or required to response to an emergency on campus at any time.
  • Mobile enough to manage and supervise job functions.
  • Be able to lift and carry 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

  • Experience supervising, training, and mentoring emerging professionals, including students and young adult employees
  • Background in college unions, higher education, or hospitality/events industry with event planning expertise, including staging, setup, and inventory control
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Skilled in event and staff management software and familiarity with audio‑visual technologies (sound, lighting, multimedia)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong administrative and communication skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure compliance with safety and emergency procedures
