Requirements
- City of Los Angeles five hundred (500) horsepower steam license
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
Responsibilities
- In a safe and efficient manner, determines the sequence required to install, maintain, adjust, modify and perform major overhaul and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilating systems, such as; absorption heater/chiller, centrifugal chiller, ice makers, walk-in freezer/refrigerator, carbon monoxide monitoring system.
- Performs calibration of all electrical and pneumatic control components, by interpreting blueprints, manufacturer and LACC specifications written and verbal.
- Operates, maintains, and makes minor repairs on facility equipment such as; absorption heater/chiller, building automation system, air dryers and domestic hot water heater.
- Repairs, maintains, troubleshoots and performs preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment such as; walk-in freezer/refrigerator, reach-in freezer/refrigerator, air handler system (exhaust ventilation, return air systems), direct expansion package system, split systems, water treatment of open and closed loop systems, cooling towers, circulating pumps.
- Conducts routine visual inspection of equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment such as changing oil, air/water filters, system water, cleaning and lubricating and adjusting equipment.
- Operates and maintains building HVAC, lighting and Fire Life Safety Automation systems.
- Completes daily work activity reports, sign off of all completed work requests and make all daily logbook entries.
- Informs the Lead Certified Engineer of necessary parts needed for equipment repairs and status of completed/uncompleted work requests.
- The job duties performed by the Certified Engineer, in a safe and efficient manner, are the same as those performed by the NonCertified Engineer.
