About The Position

Under the direction of Recreation Supervisor II, the Building Monitor is responsible for the opening and closing of the Marshall N. White Community Center, completing morning and night checklists, and ensuring the facility is maintained for rentals, events, and general operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent public relations, and the ability to work independently while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patrons. This position requires performing minor building security and maintenance tasks. Candidates must be willing to work nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid Utah Driver's License.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, CPR certification.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with the public.
  • Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the Marshall N. White Center, following security protocols.
  • Complete morning and night checklists to ensure facility readiness.
  • Oversee rental setups and takedowns, ensuring proper arrangements.
  • Enforce facility rules and report on any security or safety concerns.
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests, community members, and event organizers.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Perform light building maintenance (cleaning, sweeping, painting, minor repairs).
  • Remove snow and ice using shovels, blowers, and spreaders as needed.
  • Monitor and report any facility issues or safety concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with city safety and risk management standards.
  • Participate in safety and risk management activities to reduce liability.
  • Support additional city programs and recreational activities when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
