We are seeking a highly skilled and service-focused Building Mechanic professional to join our Building Services team at our award winning luxury senior living community in Tysons. This is a resident-facing role that supports operations throughout the building, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for residents, team members, and guests. The ideal candidate brings hands-on maintenance expertise, including strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, life safety equipment, and general building operations, along with experience in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and vendor coordination. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to respond with urgency and adaptability in a dynamic environment. This is a full-time, hourly position requiring availability to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning, plumbing, elevator, and generators.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of routine repairs, maintenance requests, and work orders throughout the community.
  • Monitor and adjust refrigeration equipment as assigned.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and adjustments for building, regular wear and tear, windows, doors, locks, and smoke detectors, equipment, and machinery.
  • Maintain community fire and life safety systems and equipment; respond to emergencies according to Mather policies and procedures.
  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance including grounds clean-up, snow removal and salting, maintain light fixtures.
  • Detects malfunctions through observation audio and visual.
  • Inspects, repair and ensures interior lighting, resident HVAC, elevators, and dining equipment are functioning to code and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Conducts routine water management systems tests per building code as assigned.
  • Assist with vendor services management, including building escorts, access, service coordination, and closeout.
  • Perform/Assist in unlocks, room set-ups/tear downs, receiving/delivery of packages.
  • Monitor the community through regular tours to ensure safety and security of residents, guests, and staff.
  • Attend and maintain required training to maintain proficiency and acquire advanced skills.
  • Provides and coordinates contractors’ support in the execution of building services.
  • Maintains documentation of inspections, deficiencies, through written procedures and workorder database.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning and repair supplies.
