Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Class A or B CDL.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Track record of safety-conscious performance.
  • Strong process/procedure orientation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication/comprehension skills.
  • Strong team and customer service skills.
  • Ability to achieve performance objectives in a time-sensitive and quality-centered environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Knowledge of DOT compliance regulations.
  • Exerting up to 75 lbs of force regularly.
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a forklift and other equipment.
  • Frequent climbing into and out of a large truck, bending, standing, lifting, and ongoing physical activity.
  • Sitting for long periods of time while driving.
  • Outdoor working conditions, sometimes in extreme climates.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive and operate a lumber delivery truck.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper operation and maintenance of the company vehicle.
  • Perform daily pre and post safety checklists on the truck.
  • Observe and obey all traffic laws in the operation of the assigned company vehicle.
  • Record the Department of Transportation (DOT) log at the end of each shift.
  • Record all information on each delivery ticket and turn in a signed delivery ticket.
  • Deliver orders/building materials to each customer according to the specifications on the delivery ticket.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and team support.
  • Provide back up to dispatch as needed.
  • Advise management of any customer situations beyond the scope of authority.
  • Maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and department of transportation (DOT) medical card.
  • Maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, identifying and addressing potential safety concerns.
  • Operate equipment according to specification and in alignment with designated safety standards.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required.
