About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of a school building, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Building Manager oversees custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping operations, manages budgets, and coordinates with external vendors and district personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in budget management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a school or public sector environment.
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Experience with work order systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the school building, including custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping services.
  • Ensure the building is clean, safe, and in good repair, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Develop and manage the building's operational budget, including supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Supervise and evaluate custodial and maintenance staff, providing training and guidance.
  • Coordinate and oversee repair and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with district standards and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, and procure necessary items.
  • Act as a liaison between the school, district facilities department, and external contractors.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure appropriate protocols are followed.
  • Maintain records related to building operations, maintenance, and safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
