About The Position

This is an internal promotional position for current NC State Student Centers student employees. The Building Manager is responsible for opening and closing facilities, maintaining cleanliness and safety, managing daily operations, coordinating with event staff, leading teams for setups, communicating updates, inspecting areas, completing maintenance reports, engaging with guests, providing information, covering the information desk and loading dock, serving as a primary point of contact for issues, responding to incidents, completing shift reports, working special events, attending meetings and trainings, adhering to policies, and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work with and manage a team to serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to support other functions of NC State Student Centers
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation, and training sessions

Responsibilities

  • Open/Close Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center each day, ensuring health and safety protocols are met.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance.
  • Manage daily building operations and coordinate with event operations for a seamless experience.
  • Lead a team of 2-6 for common area setups, rearrangement, removal or replacement.
  • Communicate event and facility updates to relevant staff.
  • Inspect common areas and assist with suite issues as needed.
  • Complete maintenance reports and submit and follow up on work orders.
  • Engage with guests and clients to provide information about NC State and the Student Centers.
  • Provide coverage at the information desk and loading dock as needed.
  • Serve as the primary initial point of contact for non-routine issues.
  • Respond to incidents, injuries, and crises.
  • Complete detailed shift reports.
  • Work special events and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
  • Adhere to all NC State Student Centers policies and expectations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Be professional and be present for your shifts.
  • Arrive early for shifts.
  • Have on a complete uniform.
  • Clock in and clock out in a timely fashion.
  • Cell phones are only used at appropriate times.
  • Prioritize the client.
  • Finish all duties before taking a break.
