About The Position
This role is responsible for cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds, performing routine repairs, and driving for maintenance-related tasks. The position involves ensuring the neatness and cleanliness of the premises daily, including tasks like mowing, hedge trimming, and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems. During November and December, the role becomes full-time to support the Red Kettle campaign, involving setting up equipment, driving workers, and handling kettle donations. The job also includes extensive cleaning responsibilities for facilities, bathrooms, floors, windows, and furniture, as well as regular trash collection and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Requirements
- Six months' experience performing general housekeeping duties, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
- Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
- Valid Driver's License.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains buildings and grounds, including mowing and trimming hedges.
- Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Conducts minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
- Cleans sidewalks with a blower and collects trash from grounds.
- Assists in setting up meeting rooms with tables and chairs.
- Monitors and replaces light bulbs in fixtures.
- Performs routine building maintenance activities.
- Conducts minor plumbing repairs for leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
- Performs carpentry work to repair walls and paints interior and exterior of buildings.
- Assembles and moves office furniture.
- Drives a truck to pick up maintenance materials and repair items.
- Cleans surroundings after repair jobs and ensures tools are collected.
- Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment for the Maintenance Department.
- Provides full-time support during November and December for the Red Kettle campaign, including setting up equipment, driving workers to kettle locations, and picking up/securing kettle donations.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, sinks, and toilets; polishes mirrors and replenishes supplies.
- Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors and sidewalks.
- Cleans windows, dusts, and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Empties trash cans regularly and cleans them.
- Displays special signs as needed.
- Assists in performing building maintenance and repair work.
- Provides a variety of cleaning duties to maintain the building's upkeep, neatness, and cleanliness.
- Assists in performing groundskeeping work.
- May drive a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up/deliver items or transport passengers.
- Performs other related work as required.
