About The Position

This position is located in the PARKS department at Jim R Miller Park. The role involves performing general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities. This includes semi-skilled manual work in building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and drywall, masonry, and custodial tasks. The technician will assist in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards, and will conduct maintenance inspections to identify and address potential problems or unsafe conditions. The position also involves purchasing construction and maintenance related items and accounting for related financial paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Supplemented by previous experience in building maintenance and repair.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities.
  • Performs semi-skilled manual work involving building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and drywall, masonry, custodial, or other maintenance projects.
  • Ensures that operation, construction, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Conducts maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs.
  • Performs various plumbing tasks including troubleshooting, installation, repair, and clearing of blockages.
  • Performs various electrical tasks including troubleshooting, installation, repair, and replacement of components.
  • Performs various tasks involving general building maintenance, carpentry, masonry or construction projects, including painting, concrete work, plaster applications, sheetrock placement, roof inspection/repair, and door/window replacement.
  • Determines material needs, provides cost projections, gathers equipment and supplies, monitors inventory, and orders materials.
  • Participates in the setup and removal of tables, chairs, stages, etc., for meetings, classes, and special events.
  • Responsible for purchasing construction and maintenance related items.
  • Accountable for delivery of related financial paperwork to administrative staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
