About The Position

Position will be open until filled. We are currently seeking: A building maintenance technician to join our team and perform journey-level tasks in repair and maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC and basic electrical work. Your responsibilities will include: Performing facilities maintenance and repair tasks, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry. Operating and maintaining hand and power tools. Working independently and making appropriate decisions based on work experience. Identifying materials and equipment needed for each assigned project and ordering supplies. Troubleshooting facility problems and maintenance issues and developing cost effective solutions. Performing repairs, preventative maintenance and component replacement for the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, carpentry and mechanical systems. Repairing and rebuilding interior and external structures and components as needed. Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures and notifying supervisor if repair problems exist beyond the scope of authority. Maintaining grounds and landscaping, which may include the use of pest and weed control chemicals. Operating a variety of specialized equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Reporting problems and emergency situations to appropriate personnel. Maintaining records of services performed, time and costs of materials. Assuring hazardous materials are cleaned up in a controlled and timely manner, according to City policy and procedures. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Regular and timely attendance is required. Requirements

  • Advanced repair and maintenance methods on electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC systems.
  • Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Following and maintaining safety standards.
  • Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and public.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and three years' experience in building maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
  • Required to perform physical work and be able to lift 78 pounds.
