About The Position

The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Technician for an immediate opening. Candidates must have 3-5 years’ experience in building maintenance or construction and have working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring the optimal performance of all technical systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Construction knowledge and experience in carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, roofing and welding
  • Possess competent knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and ground maintenance
  • HVAC and Boiler experience. Certifications preferable
  • Basic knowledge of computers and software applications relevant to HVAC and Boiler systems
  • Must feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to maintain a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, or early mornings
  • Possess the ability to work with a team as well as independently
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for completing repairs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary to discussing repair options or issues
  • Administrative capabilities for organizing equipment and maintaining inventory
  • Have the physical ability to climb ladders, crawl into small spaces, and stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle heavy equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments

Responsibilities

  • Complete work orders created by JCC staff and assigned by the Facilities Building Superintendent.
  • Identify and repair issues with equipment and systems, including minor repairs to drywall, doors, and other building fixtures
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facilities
  • Work with and develop relationships with outside vendors and subcontractors
  • Clean and maintain plant facilities and maintenance equipment and tools
  • Complete tasks such as moving or assembling furniture, hanging shelving, mirrors or storage units as well as specific grounds maintenance
  • Assist with ordering supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance
  • Complete other facility maintenance and job duties as assigned by Facility Manager
