About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine and general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings and equipment. This includes performing minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair work. The technician will ensure all equipment remains in proper working order and complies with standard operating procedures and safety standards. They will operate The Salvation Army vehicle to carry out job-related responsibilities, serve as the first contact for and respond to all security alarms and maintenance concerns, and provide custodial care for the common areas of the building and the grounds.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years’ experience performing maintenance, repair, and custodial work, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
  • Ability to walk and stand, and to climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment may be required for repairs.
  • Duties are usually performed standing, bending, walking, sitting, climbing, or stooping throughout the day.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move items up to 100+ pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Perform routine building maintenance activities including minor repairs for plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
  • Assist external vendors or contractors when advanced maintenance or repairs are required.
  • Maintain the grounds to include mowing grass, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
  • Clean surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.
  • Assembles, repairs, and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Monitor activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.
  • Operate The Salvation Army vehicle to carry out job related responsibilities, including picking up supplies, materials needed for maintenance work.
  • Maintain all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
  • Prepares logs, reports and maintains inventory of all Salvation Army property serial numbers; maintains all product warranties and guarantees to ensure maintenance and repair work is conducted in compliance with the same.
  • Responds as first contact to all security alarms and maintenance issues.
