Thermea Spa Village Whitby is seeking a passionate Building Maintenance Technician to join their village in Whitby, Ontario. This role is crucial in maintaining and preserving the buildings, machinery, and aquatic facilities, while also supporting the operational team to ensure smooth operations. Requirements

  • Two (2) years advanced vocational training (Class 5 Power Engineer, HVAC or Electronic Technician, Millwright would be considered an asset) or equivalent experience in maintaining building systems and mechanical equipment (Pumps, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler systems, HVAC etc.)
  • Minimum 2 two years of experience in facility maintenance
  • Knowledge of maintenance techniques
  • Ability to actively integrate safety into work procedures and to flawlessly follow emergency procedures
  • Ability to use maintenance equipment and tools
  • Understanding of ladder safety/working at heights, arc flash awareness, LOTO, safe lifting techniques, safe operation of drills and saws
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a large team (collaboration, versatility, initiative)
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to tolerate stress
  • Ability to work outdoors during all months of the year
  • Ability to reach, bend, and frequently lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, Teams, Email, PDF
  • Care for an organized working environment and good housekeeping practices
  • A drive for results and continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Class 5 Power Engineer, HVAC or Electronic Technician, Millwright training
  • Experience in a hospitality environment

Responsibilities

  • Carry out minor and routine repairs to installations, hardware, furniture and other equipment (filters, furnaces, pumps, heat exchangers, lighting etc.)
  • Carry out minor work (work that does not require the presence of an expert) in carpentry, plumbing, painting, construction, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules
  • Ensure par levels are respected for replacement parts, chemicals and other required equipment
  • Check and perform monthly tests to ensure proper functioning of security, emergency, mechanical, electrical systems and fire protections systems
  • Perform other related duties

Benefits

  • Annual compensation for the role is expected to be in the range of $50,000 - $65,000
