About The Position

This role involves performing basic and complex building maintenance tasks for both inside and outside areas of all company plants and satellite structures. The position requires operating various construction and lift equipment, organizing and assigning work, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and coordinating/training team members. The technician will also serve as a project leader and the point person for the maintenance team, overseeing facility maintenance and working with various internal and external resources. A strong emphasis is placed on adhering to Environmental, Health, and Safety standards, reporting unsafe conditions, and working with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and understand work orders and prints.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Must have knowledge of building structures.
  • Some knowledge of electrical and plumbing.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand for 2 hours and walk for 8 hours per 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach above shoulder level, balance, push/pull.
  • Ability to occasionally squat, crawl, climb, kneel.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying (frequently from 0 to 20 lbs., occasionally from 20 to 100 lbs.).
  • Must be able to hear, see, write, have good binocular vision, distinguish colors, do simple and firm grasping with both hands, and use foot to operate a foot pedal.
  • Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment that includes exposure to outside temperatures, noise, paint, dust, solvents, and oil.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to safely operate lift trucks including a wave and safely work in areas of lift truck traffic.
  • Must be able to drive a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT guidelines.
  • Must be able to operate other heavy equipment including backhoe, skid loader and mini excavator.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not provided for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and complex building maintenance related tasks, including cutting, fabricating, welding, general repairs and construction, heavy moving, snow removal, concrete work, painting, and floor cleaning/stripping/sealing.
  • Operate and drive construction equipment, tractors, trucks, lift trucks, snorkel, scissor lift, and WAVE.
  • Organize and assign work according to plant priority.
  • Support Ops Excellence, Lean and Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and train current and new team members.
  • Function as a project leader and the point person for the maintenance team.
  • Oversee and document facility preventive and general maintenance.
  • Work and coordinate with servicemen, supervisors, operators, lead technicians, and outside contractors.
  • Lead the team on all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.
  • Report unsafe conditions and do not perform unsafe acts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
