Responsible for a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including heating, air conditioning, roofing, plumbing, electrical work, and general handyman duties. Conducting scheduled maintenance on building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, promptly addressing any issues that arise. In emergencies, responding promptly to ensure the safety and functionality of critical systems, even during after-hours or weekends. Maintaining detailed records of all maintenance activities and inventory to track history and manage resources effectively. Additionally, prioritizing safety by identifying and mitigating potential hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Collaboration with maintenance staff, contractors, and supervisors is essential to coordinate tasks effectively and ensure the smooth operation of city facilities. Other duties include conducting visual inspections of buildings to identify necessary services and repairs, including replacing light bulbs, fixtures, and performing plumbing maintenance tasks. This role also involves ensuring the operational readiness of fire station vehicles by inspecting shorelines and keeping batteries charged. Additionally, corrects unsafe conditions, installs various equipment such as soap and paper towel dispensers, and conducts inspections for fire protection systems and compliance dates. Operating heavy equipment, power tools, and commercial vehicles is integral to this position, which also entails leading inspections and repairs of airfield storm drains, sewer manholes, and patching on runways and taxiways. Leadership in maintenance tasks and experience in supervisory roles contribute to the efficient operation of airport facilities and grounds maintenance.
