Building Maintenance Specialist
About The Position
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is currently searching for a qualified and reliable Building Maintenance Specialist to routinely be involved on a daily basis in many different types of duties and tasks of general facility maintenance, repair and construction to include preventative maintenance and assignments as well as but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, kitchen equipment repairs and utility service systems at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Tucson. Requirements
- Knowledge of structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codes
- Knowledge of trades, e.g., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, etc.
- Knowledge of budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
- Knowledge of common and specialized tools and equipment for performing duties
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulations
- Skill in reading of blueprints, schematics, and general construction
- Skill in mechanical devices, electrical, preventative maintenance
- Skill in using and demonstrating the use of common and specialized tools
- Skill in written and verbal communication
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs
- Ability to push/pull up to 50lbs
- Ability to walk/run up to 0.25 miles
- Ability to work in a prison environment
- Ability to supervise inmate work crews
- Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
- Must complete all required training
- Must successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
- Must maintain acceptable driving records
- Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Responsibilities
- Schedules and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material list, equipment and needs
- Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks as required and scheduled
- Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor
- Basic knowledge of office equipment to include computers, internet research and completion of documents
- Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
- Supervises and evaluates inmate worker’s performance
- Attends staff meetings and training as required
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
