About The Position

This position is mainly responsible for maintaining State owned facilities which includes physical structures, mechanical, electrical systems, and utilities; requesting purchase orders for repairs and product accordingly; maintaining documentation associated with time keeping. This position will work independently with limited supervision. Will be responsible for communicating, maintaining effective organization and management of work product for internal and external customers. This position may be asked to accommodate emergency after hours work. Lead and train co-workers when applicable, assuring work product is compliant. This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle. Employment is contingent upon passing a physical examination. This position is eligible for a $4,000 hiring incentive.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Common and specialized tools.
  • Knowledge of: Equipment and materials related to the project.
  • Knowledge of: Blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings and related utilities services systems.
  • Knowledge of: All applicable building codes.
  • Knowledge of: Methods and practices involved In remodeling and construction of buildings.
  • Knowledge of: Estimating and ordering materials.
  • Knowledge of: Building system codes, OSHA requirements as well as safe working techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of: Google Workspace.
  • Skill in: Hand/ eye coordination
  • Skill in: Safety utilizing power equipment and diagnostic equipment
  • Skill in: Prioritizing assignments in order of importance
  • Skill in: Communication and organization
  • Skill in: Safe working techniques
  • Ability to: Work efficiently with computers
  • Ability to: Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to: Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • Maintain acceptable driving records.
  • Complete all required driver training.
  • Maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

  • One (1) year experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & repair physical building structures, HVAC systems, electrical systems, water systems & associated equipment.
  • Diagnose repair issues. Research best solutions for making repairs. Oversee contractor based projects. Professional customer contact and interaction.
  • Preventative maintenance and building inspections; filters, lights, flooring, plumbing fixtures, etc.
