About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles. It also involves groundskeeping activities to maintain and enhance the appearance of the property, and completing minor plumbing and carpentry repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., as well as continuous walking, standing, stooping, and occasional climbing.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle safely, including driving in heavy traffic, traveling for extended periods, and overnight travel when required.
  • Valid state driver’s license may be required.
  • Knowledge of general building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance practices, including routine repair and upkeep activities.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and passenger vehicles in accordance with Salvation Army policies and insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices, passenger transportation procedures, route planning, and time management to ensure timely arrivals.
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job training, follow instructions, read maps, and adapt to assigned duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine building maintenance activities.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
  • Performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
  • Performs electrical work.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
  • Maintains the grounds to include collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
  • Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
