About The Position
The purpose of this position is to oversee the upkeep of City buildings, structures. This is primarily accomplished by making repairs, obtaining materials and parts, and pricing equipment to be used for maintenance. Please Note: An offer of employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a fingerprint screening. If the incumbent fails to obtain clearance through the fingerprint screening, they will not be able to access all necessary City buildings and therefore, may be subject to termination.
Requirements
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
- Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
- Problem solving.
- Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Using applicable tools of the trade.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities
- Travels and maintains and repairs City facilities.
- Performs basic carpentry, building and plumbing repairs.
- Inventories and purchases material needed for projects.
- Performs regular maintenance and servicing of shop and hand tool equipment.
- Maintains reports and daily logs of work progress.
- Rotational on-call responsibilities.
- Performs other similar duties as required.
