This position is responsible for conducting field inspections throughout the County at project sites to ensure code compliance for residential and commercial installations. This includes inspecting building, framing, footing/slabs, HVAC, and plumbing installations, and reviewing approved building plans against actual construction. The inspector identifies code violations, communicates findings to relevant parties, re-inspects corrections, issues citations, and may prepare and present evidence in court as needed. The role involves approving compliant construction activities and maintaining detailed inspection records and related documentation in departmental systems. Communication with building owners, contractors, developers, and the general public regarding codes, inspection procedures, and other issues pertaining to code compliance programs and services is also a key aspect, including responding to questions and interpreting policies. Additionally, the position includes performing a variety of administrative duties such as making and returning phone calls, prioritizing and scheduling assigned inspections, completing daily log sheets, preparing inspection files, certification files, building permits, and letters, entering collected information into a database, and maintaining all related records and files.
