Reporting to the Director Utilities Services & Chief Operating Engineer, the Building Information and Controls Specialist serves as an integral member within the Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) team at our Mississauga Campus. The incumbent will work closely with FMP Utilities staff to support the operation and upkeep of Building Automation System (BAS) hardware and user graphic interfaces. The Specialist is responsible for the daily inspection, maintenance and optimization of the BAS systems. He/She would also be required to configure and optimize BAS operating schedules, alarm strategies and trend logs. This position would also analyze BAS performance data and implement advanced control sequence improvements to enhance system reliability. The Building Information and Controls Specialist will ensure operational efficiency of BAS, while actively supporting UTM Climate Positive Plan and campus decarbonization objectives. The role would be required to work closely with FMP projects team to ensure compliance with UofT’s BAS design standards in renovation & new construction projects. In collaboration with the Information & Instructional Technology Services (I&ITS) department, the Building Information and Controls Specialist will assist in ensuring effective coordination with Network Engineering and the BAS vendors. The Specialist will conduct fieldwork and troubleshoot issues with building automation hardware, control wiring networks, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
