Building General Superintendent
About The Position
Tutor Perini Civil-East is seeking a Building General Superintendent to join our project site in Midtown Manhattan, NY, NY. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 15+ years of experience in civil or commercial construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent role.
- Experience managing construction projects valued over 250 million.
- Proficient in construction management software and scheduling tools.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice To Haves
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience with transportation infrastructure projects (bus terminals, transit centers, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications (e.g., NCCER, LEED) are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day construction operations for the bus terminal project, including structures, platforms, passenger facilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure efficient workflow and sequencing of activities.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to maintain alignment with project goals.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans to address delays or unforeseen conditions.
- Ensure timely delivery and staging of materials and equipment.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations on-site.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices at all times.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections and coordinate with quality control personnel.
- Address deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Oversee site logistics, including access roads, traffic control, staging areas, and security.
- Manage site utilities, temporary structures, and environmental controls.
- Maintain organized and efficient job site conditions.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for owners, consultants, inspectors, and local agencies.
- Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and milestones.
- Participate in project meetings and reporting.
