About The Position

Certerra is seeking a Building Envelope Forensics Inspector (BEFI) for our Paramount Consulting & Engineering group based in Miami, FL. The BEFI will have knowledge and background in architecture, engineering, or a related field, as well as experience in different building envelope systems including but not limited to waterproofing, roofing systems, glazing, stucco cladding, coating and paints. The BEFI will be in direct communication with clients and PCE’s project managers, will help coordinating the project’s site visit and comply with the project’s contract agreement and scope of work related to ongoing projects. The primary role of the BEFI is to assess, analyze, and provide our expert opinion of the building and the building envelope system’s current condition to help determine the needed fixes; ensure a water and weather-tight building envelope system and promote a long-lasting system performance and design to promote peace of mind to owners and stakeholders.

Requirements

Knowledge and background in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
Experience in different building envelope systems including but not limited to waterproofing, roofing systems, glazing, stucco cladding, coating and paints.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
Ability to handle heights from suspended swing-stage, scaffolding, boom-lift, scissor-lift.
Bilingual, English, and Spanish preferred.
Ability to work on construction sites.
Intermediate computer/smartphone skills.
The company will provide all safety gear, except for Safety Shoes / Boots, which are required.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in construction or other related field a plus.
Ability to comprehend blueprints a plus.

Responsibilities

Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, including roofing, waterproofing, insulation, cladding, and fenestration, along with their associated materials, construction techniques, and performance factors.
The ability to develop clear and detailed condition assessments evaluation reports of building envelope systems: Waterproofing, Roofing, Exterior walls, Stucco, Glazing, Coating and Paint.
Provide repair recommendations, including products recommendations and design.
Review of building’s original drawings, plans, specifications and construction documents- as applicable.
The ability to work with consultants, engineers, contractors, and project teams to attain the common goal in building envelope of building restoration.
Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Be part and participate in the project’s onsite or virtual meetings.
Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to building envelope systems, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and customers, clearly and effectively.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, industry professionals, manufacturers, and suppliers to stay informed about new products, technologies, and industry developments.
Proficient in the use of computer applications such as Microsoft Office products, CAD Programs, Bluebeam, Revit and other construction software such as PROCORE among others.
Take part and participate in webinars, trainings relating building envelope technologies, applicable codes and regulations.
Provide owners and property managers with assurance (and evidence) that what is being installed on the project is exactly what was anticipated and designed, both in terms of product performance and warranty coverage/period.
Provide the General Contractor ‘GC’ with information regarding deficiencies in installations, substrates, products, and etc., in a timely manner, to avoid affecting scheduling. The BEFI will work hand in hand with the GC and the installers, ensuring the installation process is smooth and nothing is missed.
Provide the product manufacturer with the assurance that the products are being installed as per submitted documents and manufacturer recommendations in order for product manufacturer can provide the appropriate warranty.
Providing the governing city/entity with the assurance that various facets of the construction is being installed as per the governing entity’s requirements and approval documents.
Maintain a pleasant appearance, as an ambassador for the company.
Provide excellent customer service and communication skills.
Conduct project site visits, condition assessment and field inspections per company established SOP's and standards.
