About The Position

NOVA Engineering and Environmental is seeking a mid-Level Building Envelope Consultant to join our Facilities group in the Fort Lauderdale, FL metropolitan statistical area. We are looking for a motivated professional with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams while continuing to develop technical expertise. This position involves consulting, field testing, and inspection services for commercial, retail, educational, multi-family, low- to high-rise, and manufacturing facilities in both public and private sectors. The successful candidate will have hands-on field experience, a foundational understanding of building enclosure systems, and a desire to continue building technical and consulting skills. Familiarity with engineering and consulting principles, as well as general business practices, is expected.

Requirements

  • Approximately 3–5 years of consulting or related field experience in Building Enclosure, Structures, and/or Property Condition Assessments.
  • Working knowledge of building construction and enclosure systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more following certifications are highly preferred: Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Certified Infrared Thermographer (CIT)
  • Experience with wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofing, and waterproofing.
  • Exposure to remedial design related to building enclosure or roofing systems.
  • Certification to operate boom lifts or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on technical report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting visual building enclosure system surveys, moisture surveys, pre-design surveys, and property condition assessments under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Forensic evaluations and investigations of building enclosure and roof components experiencing performance issues or suspected failures.
  • Field testing of roofing, waterproofing, window, and curtainwall systems on new and existing construction, generally in accordance with ASTM, AAMA, TAS, and ANSI standards.
  • Reviewing construction documents, including architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittits related to building enclosure systems.
  • Supporting quality assurance site inspections to verify conformance with construction documents, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Assisting in the preparation of clear, well-organized technical reports documenting observations, testing, and investigative findings.
  • Some occasional in-state and out-of-state overnight travel may be required.
