About The Position

At Colliers, we are seeking a Building Engineer who is a technical and engineering expert, familiar with maintenance systems and equipment. This role requires strong organizational skills, a customer-centric approach, and a positive outlook. The Building Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance systems are running efficiently to ensure the safety of our clients and their properties. This includes responding to client requests, prioritizing and assigning work orders, and following up to ensure minimal downtime. The role also involves proactive measures such as conducting regular inspections, alarm testing, and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with property managers, suppliers, and department leaders is also key. The Building Engineer will manage multiple priorities and reports, including inventory, records, and schedules.

Requirements

  • At least 3 - 5 years' experience in building/property maintenance or engineering experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of HVAC systems/maintenance, electrical, plumbing, energy management systems, and other building mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Flexibility to be on-call to respond to after-hours / weekend emergency requests.
  • Working knowledge of work order and preventative maintenance software systems.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and check daily operating logs for air conditioning, fan units, graph charts, utility meters, and general complaints.
  • Ensure that building systems and tenant service requests are handled efficiently at the most economical cost.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and RFP process for budgeted projects.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of operating procedures and proper chemical treatment levels for cooling towers and boilers.
  • Respond to client requests, prioritize and assign work orders, and follow up to ensure minimal downtime.
