About The Position
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Building Engineer / Maintenance Technician to support the daily maintenance and operation of a commercial building. This role is hands-on and requires a strong working knowledge of general building systems, excellent time management, and the ability to interact professionally with tenants and property management. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling a wide range of light maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities engineering
- Strong working knowledge of general maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, HVAC basics)
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform repairs with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer or mobile app skills for work orders and reporting
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including: Drywall repair and patching, Interior and exterior painting, Basic plumbing repairs (leaks, fixtures, valves, clogs), Lighting maintenance, including ballast and lamp replacements, Light electrical work (switches, outlets, fixtures – no high-voltage work)
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems: Check thermostats and ensure proper operation, Replace air filters on a scheduled basis, Identify and report mechanical or performance issues
- Conduct routine building inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Respond to tenant service requests in a timely, professional manner
- Interface effectively with tenants, vendors, and property management
- Maintain organized work orders, logs, and maintenance records
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with safety standards and building policies
- Assist with special projects, vendor coordination, and preventative maintenance as needed
