About The Position

Coordinates and maintains the Clear Creek Amana School facilities and grounds. This role involves ensuring the building, mechanical, plumbing systems, and grounds are kept in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. The Building Engineer will also coordinate custodial schedules, maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for building equipment, and ensure adherence to the energy conservation policy. Leadership and responsibility for the assigned custodial crew are key aspects of this position, along with assisting building staff and the public with activity setups. Daily cleaning and repair work, weekend building checks, ordering maintenance supplies, and assisting during disaster drills are also part of the duties. Major summer repairs, including painting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and roofing, may be assigned, along with other related duties as needed. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of boilers, furnaces, burners, air handling equipment and the use of electrical and mechanical items.
Ability to read blueprints and simple drawings.
Basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
Physically able to stand, walk, climb, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head and push/pull or lift/move heavy objects.
Ability to work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes and various noise levels.
Has manual dexterity to handle pieces of custodial equipment such as vacuums, mop buckets, electric floor scrubbers, etc.
Requires lifting materials weighing up to (seventy) 70 pounds on a routine basis and may be required to lift heavier items on occasion.
Ability to work overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

Maintain the building, mechanical, plumbing systems and grounds of assigned school or building in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
Coordinate custodial schedules to building and activity needs.
Maintain a good preventative maintenance schedule for building equipment.
Ensure that the energy conservation policy of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District is properly followed.
Provide leadership and assume responsibility for the custodial crew assigned to the building.
Work with the building staff and public in setting up for activities, including P.A. systems, scoreboards, tables, chairs, bleachers, etc.
Lock and unlock inside and outside doors at specified times and inspect rooms.
Set or deactivate the alarm as required.
Perform daily cleaning and repair work.
Conduct weekend building checks as arranged.
Order maintenance supplies in coordination with other building engineers.
Assist during disaster drills.
Perform summer major repairs including painting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and roofs.
May be assigned other related duties in addition to those listed in job description.
