About The Position

The Building Engineer II operates, monitors, and maintains complex building systems with a focus on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, involving a higher level of troubleshooting and independent problem-solving compared to Building Engineer I.

Requirements

3-5 years of job-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
Engineering and trade licenses required per local, state, or national requirements.
Advanced proficiency with HVAC and building automation systems (BAS); familiarity with fire alarm and life safety systems.
Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and laptop/phone applications for work order systems, email, and training platforms.
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems independently.
Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on critical building systems.
Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records on building equipment.
Manage service contractors during routine and emergency repairs.
Conduct thorough inspections and proactively report deficiencies; ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and tracked.
Follow company safety protocols and use PPE for all tasks; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; report hazards immediately and participate in safety audits.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies; handle urgent tenant service requests and support recovery efforts during severe weather and system outages.
Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable building operations.
Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills; provide guidance to junior technicians; participate in professional development programs.
Develop advanced proficiency with HVAC and building automation systems (BAS) and familiarity with fire alarm and life safety systems.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
