Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Building Engineer III for our Operations Facilities Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Building Engineer lll, you will lead coordination of tasks of building maintenance technicians and journeymen and coordination of outside contractor support as needed or assigned to facilitate the completion of repairs and projects too large to be done in-house. You will obtain appropriate approval from leadership and properly documents transactions. You will provide trouble-shooting and repair efforts on commercial and hospital grade equipment. You will operate, maintain, and service basic building assets, doors, HVAC systems, Building Automation Systems, CMMS, plumbing, steam, vessels, pumps, motors, fire protection, nurse call, and other building systems. You will perform preventative maintenance support as well as identify any recommendations for better equipment maintenance. You will check and repair electrical fixtures, including ballasts, switches and outlets; replace electrical switches, light bulbs, and fluorescent light tubes; check and repair basic plumbing fixtures, including spigots, traps and washers, and pipe fittings; make minor repairs on mechanical equipment, such as furnaces, air conditioners, fans, pumps, gear boxes and conveyors; clean and lubricate moving parts; pack glands; and perform various other preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment. You will maintain and use all appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, face shield, and coveralls. You will perform all work following infection control procedures. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities. You will follow approved purchasing methods to purchase repair parts, tools, and supplies as needed to perform assigned tasks. You will coordinate and assist master-trades personnel on difficult projects in performing more complex repairs. You will provide energy management system (EMS)/building automation system (BAS) oversight to ensure building maintains maximum comfort and maximum energy set points and setbacks. You will diagnose and repair of Direct Expansion (DX) HVAC equipment, ice machines, Commercial Air Handling Equipment (AHU), Variable Air Volume (VAV) for both variable volume and constant volume ventilation equipment. You will research and select materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and maintenance. You will interpret as-built building blueprints and recommend system modifications for remodel projects in accordance with applicable regulations. You will perform other duties as assigned, including snow removal.
