About The Position

Spectrum Management, LLC has been serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area for over 25 years and provides a comprehensive array of services that include construction management, facilities management and real estate development services. Spectrum Management is currently seeking to recruit Chief Building Engineers for several key Washington, D.C. sites to observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters and charts and adjust controls/equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation of the building systems. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience with commercial building operations and maintenance facilities and be able to ensure all equipment is safe and well-functioning. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Valid DC 3rd Class Engineers License Required.
  • 5+ years of experience operating in a facility with similar characteristics and job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • CFC License preferred.
  • Experience supervising an engineering/maintenance staff of three (3) or more a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, steam, chilled water, domestic water, electrical, refrigeration, and energy management systems, utilizing Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections, quality control assessments, and operational rounds throughout the facility to identify potential issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain reliable, efficient building operations.
  • Test, maintain, and ensure compliance of critical building infrastructure and life safety systems, including emergency power systems, water treatment systems, elevators, and other essential mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Lead and support engineering and maintenance staff by overseeing daily operations, promoting safety, training, quality assurance, continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining clean and organized mechanical and electrical spaces.
  • Serve as the senior engineering representative during assigned shifts, responding to service calls, addressing environmental and indoor air quality concerns, and ensuring the safe, effective operation and maintenance of all building systems in a secure facility environment.
