About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Specialist to join our Building Science Solutions team in Cleveland, Ohio. This role supports new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning, as well as evaluations, investigations, and repairs of existing buildings. The Building Science Solutions group focuses on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects. This position involves frequent travel, estimated at 25%, and operates on a Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering with 2+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure OR; 7+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure in lieu of degree
• Working knowledge of building construction, roofing, and other building enclosure systems
• Construction administration, progress observation and site inspection experience
• Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a team environment
• Excellent organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Consistent and professional interaction and communication
• Field experience or strong interest in working onsite
• Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks
• Ability to observe work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs, etc.
• Ability to travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations, estimate 25% travel time
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record

Responsibilities

• Complete field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, air barriers, curtain walls, and other building elements.
• Perform quality assurance observations and monitor the construction process to ensure compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and warranty stipulated installation procedures.
• Perform construction administration services and site visits at construction jobsites.
• Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements.
• Prepare professionally written field reports.
• Learn to perform building enclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals.
• Learn to prepare sketches and details using Bluebeam and hand-drawn techniques.
