As a Building Enclosure Associate within our Forensics Practice, you will be responsible for investigating building enclosure failures and construction defects, conducting materials and systems research, performing field testing, and coordinating project work with the team. The ideal candidate is conscientious and creative, detail-oriented and professional, with strong client service skills and attentiveness to client communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA).
  • 8-12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with roof and façade investigations, assessments, and testing for large-scale projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in developing client relationships and building a book of business.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage building enclosure consulting projects from conception to completion, including correspondence with clients and other interested parties.
  • Perform on-site surveys, investigations, and documentation of existing conditions, including facade assessments via suspended scaffold or industrial rope access.
  • Conduct field testing of various materials and assemblies, including performance testing of curtainwall and facade assemblies.
  • Perform damage assessment and cause and origin investigations.
  • Analyze façade performance using specialized software (i.e. loading, thermal analysis, condensation risk, geometry).
  • Develop drawings/specifications and perform construction administration services.
  • Interpret and research building codes and industry standards (ASTM, AAMA, etc.).
  • Serve as an expert witness, or support colleagues in this role, in various capacities, including depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Build and develop client relationships to contribute to the growth of the Forensics practice, both technically and geographically.
