About The Position

SWJ Technology specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking a Building Electrician for a client in the automotive industry. This is contractor role based in Blythewood, SC and requires onsite presence. If you’re eager to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects, we look forward to your application PURPOSE: Experienced Building Electrician with expertise in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. Skilled in preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building electrical infrastructure. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Technical education or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related field.
  • Licensed Electrician or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in building electrical maintenance, facilities management, or industrial maintenance environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and building infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Experience working independently and within multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, power distribution equipment, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), lighting systems, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Experience with building electrical infrastructure, including HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), security and access control systems, and energy management systems.
  • Proficiency in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, corrective repairs, equipment testing, commissioning, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience maintaining accurate maintenance records and technical reports.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safe work practices in operational facilities.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within multidisciplinary maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade electrical equipment as required.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and equipment failures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection reports.
  • Support facility improvement and energy-efficiency projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and facility management teams.
