About The Position

Tommy's is looking for a skilled Building Design Engineer II to join our team. In this role, you'll bring our AE prototype car wash designs to life by developing 3D models, shop drawings, and material schedules while partnering with our Project Development Team to refine building systems through every model release. If you have a knack for commercial metal building systems, and a drive to solve problems, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or equivalent formal training/certifications and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience using Autodesk Revit or similar on related AE projects.
  • Experience with commercial metal building systems
  • Technical savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office 365; experience within database and project management systems a plus: i.e.: NetSuite, Jira or similar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Process-oriented and strong collaborator with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and across various departments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise good judgment and make sound data-backed decisions
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with “prefabrication for construction” and BIM a plus
  • Experience with greenhouse, glasshouse, natatoriums, outdoor shelters, SIPs, fenestration/glazing, outdoor shelters & aluminum prefabricated structures a plus
  • Experience with Autodesk AI design connectors/workflows a plus.
  • Experience with commercial MEP systems a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage Tommy’s AE prototype building designs and model year release process
  • Coordinate with Tommy’s prototype AE consultants via weekly meetings
  • Manage design change bulletin creation and organization for rolling AE updates in between model year releases
  • Develop 3D models, shop drawings, detailing for building material systems clarification/clash detection using Autodesk Revit or Inventor
  • Provide technical building design support to Project Development Team: Pre-Construction PM’s, Project Managers, Project Coordinators
  • Prepare material schedules and detailed bills of materials for internal procurement and manufacturing direction
  • Study relating building product specifications, determine optimal products for car wash application and properly apply to building designs
  • Vet building material products and suppliers for optimal cost and function
  • Assist with improving building design methods and workflows-i.e.: AI integration
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with internal departments
  • Work within a team environment of management, sales, and manufacturing
