About The Position

The Juneau International Airport is seeking two individuals to join their custodial team. This role is responsible for keeping the airport clean and safe for the traveling public. The position offers an opportunity to gain experience in building maintenance, including the operation and maintenance of large janitorial equipment and proper cleaning/disinfecting of public areas and restrooms. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, independent worker who prioritizes attendance, as much of the work is performed independently. The airport operates 24 hours a day, and this role involves interaction with the public and airport personnel.

Requirements

Three months of janitorial and cleaning experience in commercial settings involving the use of special cleaning products such as sanitizing solutions and solvents, or carpet shampooing equipment.
A valid Driver's License at time of appointment and for continued employment.
Ability to lift and carry as well as maneuver 70 lbs.
Must pass a TSA-required security check per 49 CFR 1542 and 1544 and Airport Security Program.
Must pass an FBI fingerprint criminal history records check.
Ability to maintain a favorable security check for continued employment.

Responsibilities

Cleaning airport facilities and grounds.
Vacuuming.
Light maintenance.
Cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms.
Utilizing large floor cleaning equipment for tile floors.
Dusting.
Mopping.
Pressure washing.
Picking up and emptying trash.
Spot cleaning.
Sweeping.
Cleaning windows.
Cleaning offices and break rooms.
Responding to building maintenance calls.
Minor repair of plumbing fixtures.
Changing light bulbs.
General cleanliness of the airport terminal building and adjacent areas.
Occasional special projects such as painting, meeting room set-up, and escorting contractors.
