About The Position

Are you interested in becoming part of a team that’s dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the Commonwealth of Kentucky? The Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, Division of Building Code Enforcement, is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Building Code Plans Reviewer I. This position plays a vital role in the building construction process, ensuring compliance with essential codes and standards.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Two years of experience in drafting or preparing building construction documents, or in the supervision of building construction.
Must obtain a level I (one) building inspector certification issued by the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction as defined in KRS 198B.090 and 815 KAR 7.070, within two years of employment in this job classification.
Must pass one required certification exam within this certification program, within one year.
Must complete twelve (12), department approved, Kentucky Inspector Certified Program Continuing Education unit credits per year.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities

Learns to review construction drawings and related documents of new or remodeled construction for compliance with building codes and reference standards.
Learns to review field inspection reports.
Consults with design professionals, contractors, owners, and other officials concerning building plans.
